Public Education
The departments of education and training in the four Atlantic Provinces have a long history of working together for the benefit of the public education system. Over the past ten years, under the mandate of the Atlantic Provinces Education Foundation (APEF), the projects focused on joint curriculum development, procurement of school buses, and development of learning resources aimed at improving the education of our students.
In 2004, the ministers wished to refocus their directions and founded the Council of Atlantic Ministers of Education and Training (CAMET). In order to continue to meet the needs of students from entry to grade 12, the ministers adopted a new strategic direction in order to improve student learning, focusing on Program Implementation Support and Improving Student Performance.
In moving forward, the ministers recognize that each linguistic sector may have different priorities; therefore, initiatives under CAMET will continue to respond to the needs that are specific to the clientele. In addition, other priorities may emerge and the departments will collectively continue to address and respond to these unforeseen demands. |
